Brandon Lagaert

Peeping Tom

“LIZARDS IN SHOES is geared towards performers with a foundation in performance;
dance, circus, physical theater…

Over the last decade I have encountered many art-forms that were able to grasp my attention but there are only three where I am profoundly trained in being theater, breaking and contemporary dance. In my classes I incorporate various elements of those different styles which results in a strong physical way of working. I find it intriguing that even though these styles differ from one another there are also many similarities to find. I’ve created concepts to connect those styles and let them flow from one into another. There are concepts that stem from the work of Peeping Tom and others that I have developed myself. This workshop will introduce you to those concepts to spark the creativity within yourself, which can help with making and finding your own movements, phrases, qualities, characters,… We will glide, spin, flow, melt, freeze, tick, hoover, glitch, and float. My classes have a strong emphasis on floor-work, qualities and states. Don’t bring shoes. Or lizards.”

Brandon Lagaert has mainly crafted his signature style as an artist while working for the internationally renowned dance-theater company Peeping Tom as a multidisciplinary performer in the pieces ‘Vader’, ‘Moeder’, ‘Kind’, ‘Dido & Aeneas’ and ‘La Visita’.
As a performer Lagaert combines elements coming from different disciplines such as dance, theater and film into a unique style. As a director he often starts from the perspective of a performer to lay down a certain foundation before tackling the overall structure, this under the name of his company KAIHO.

In 2019 Brandon created the performance ‘Doggy Rugburn’ for Lithuanian dance company Aura which is currently still touring nationally. In 2021 he has been invited to create for Italian dance company Equilibro Dinamico and in 2022 he will go on creating a new performance with the graduating students of the Mime department of the AHK in Amsterdam.
